Clearing Limits
Weather you project is very big or very small one of the first steps in construction is the staking of clearing limits.
Before any heavy equipment is mobilized onsite & any grading, grubbing, excavation or utility work can commence, it’s crucial to define the boundaries where vegetation, trees, and other obstacles must be cleared and transversely what elements cannot be cleared. By establishing & staking clearing limits, surveyors provide a clear outline of areas that are designated for site preparation activities, ensuring that contractors do not inadvertently disturb areas outside of the designated construction zones & that all areas suited for development are included in the improvements to ensue.
Marking of clearing limits is especially important when environmentally sensitive areas are present, the site is tight, or when a site has specific preservation requirements. Surveyors will stake these limits using durable, visible markers such as painted 2’ tall or 4’ tall colored wooden stakes, wooden hubs, vibrant colored flagging, marking paint, or more permanent markers when necessary.
